iputils-arping software package provides Tool to send ICMP echo requests to an ARP address, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install iputils-arping
iputils-arping is installed in your system.
Make ensure the iputils-arping package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep iputils-arping *
You will get with iputils-arping package name, version, architecture and description in a table
